Georgina - my 2000 lb baby
Meet Georgina: my Leeds and London George Mann Lithography Press.
Since last Wednesday I am the proud owner of a 5x8ft, 2000lb, 1920s wrought Iron Lithography press.
The lovely Brian Lane from Print Zero Studios in Seattle posted an ad on Facebook that he would love to find a new home for this beauty. He had tried to sell her but had trouble finding a studio that had a large enough door or space to fit her, or find someone who has the transport capabilities. So he put her up for free and I jumped on that right away. Luckily, my father-in-law Brett lives in Kamloops, BC, manageable driving distance from Seattle, and he got himself a commercial trailer for a heavy duty truck and drove down the next day to pick her up. With the help of an oversized forklift they managed to put her on the trailer. Scott and I don't have space for her YET, but knowing what we need now we will find a good industrial space that we can turn into a Printshop in no time. Until then Georgina is going to relax in my in-law's garage save and sound, enjoying the mountain air, before we can transport her to Halifax.
Georgina - strapped in on the trailer
Brett got creative and had a guy lift her out of the trailer for a few cases of beer.
Georgina got to fly for the first (?) time. I assume she crossed the Atlantic from London, UK via boat when she first came to the U.S.
She has been a big neighbourhood attraction, I told them they should charge admission ;).
A HUGE Thankyou to Deb & Brett for picking her up and storing her in their garage!! AMAZING!!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
