H'sao

Since I have been mentioning Charles (Dono), and Amos a lot lately I guess it's about time I do a little entry on their band H'sao.

They are from Chad and the band consists of two families. The Rimtobaye's under which Amos, his brothers Caleb and Israel as well as his sister Taroum counts. And the Ledjebegue's which is Dono and his brother Service. April 2001 they came to Montreal and have been touring all over the world since. If you are interested feel free to read their detailed history. Countries they have traveled to and performed in include: Australia, Romania, France, South Africa, Switzerland, Haiti , the United States, Canada as well their home country Chad.
This years performances included the St-Jean-Baptiste celebration on June 24th, the Opening show of the Francofolie de Montreal July 26th, as well as a show with the Montreal Symphonic Orchestra earlier this year.
Radio Canada took a couple of Band members back to Chad last month to film part of a documentary about the band and their home country which will be aired on television next year.
Their music is inspired by their African heritage as well as their travels and lives in Canada, mixed with musical influences of gospel, jazz, pop, and soul. With songs written in their native dialects as well as English and French, their music is energetic and their stage presence quite powerful.
